A while back I promised an ex of mine that when something positive happened in Egypt I would write about it here. So, today I am finally able to honor that promise. Finally, something good happened!
I flew back from New York a few days ago. I was dreading the flight because I just had back surgery and also because every interaction I had with Egypt Air customer service led me to one conclusion; Egypt Air has a strict "idoits only" hiring criteria. I had horrible imagies of what the flight will be like.
So, very uneagerly I arrive at JFK. I get in line to check in. This line is long. The longest line I have ever been in at an airport. I am in line for about 2 hours. Of course when I get to the counter he wants to charge me a penalty for changing my ticket. (Note: Egypt Air already over charged me for changing my ticket). It takes a while but I convince them I paid and they hand over the boarding pass without recharging me.
I spend about another hour in lines to pass the security checks.
So, by now I have been in lines for 3 hours. I was in a car for 2 hours before that and I did not sleep well the night before.
By the time I get on the plane I am dying. The pain was horrible.
One of the flight attendants asked me what was wrong. When i told him my story he told em to ask him if I need anything. He walked away. ABout 20 minutes later he comes back and asks me to move to the middle of the plane because he has rearranged some passengers to give me 4 free chairs so that I can lay down instead of sitting for the 12 hours.
I was grateful, touched, and impressed.
This man decided to help me even though I did not ask him. He was very caring and compassionate.
I do not think I would have been able to handle the flight had he not done so.
The passengers around me were also very kind and helpful. Everyone kept asking me if I needed anything. Everyone was so willing to try to make my life a little easier.
I was really surprised and touched by everything that they did.
So, I said before that I will not fly Egypt Air again.. but I think I changed my mind.
The flight attendants and the passengers definitely made my flight perfect...
Thank you

great! :)
Yeah..I was pretty happy about it...
:o)
HUrrah!! Is Nora writing a positive post about Egypt? ;-)
Teasing, of course. I'm glad it went well...they would be my last choice in airlines for flights to Cairo, but I think I've actually flown on worse! How are you feeling these days?
Yeah.. Nora is finally writing something good.
Why would they be your last choice?
Honestly, I must say that i have flown a lot worse. And after how nice the crew was I think I will fly them again..
I am feeling ok. I am still trying to get used to everything and get into a routine.. but everyday proves to be a little easier than the one before.
I just find that they are completely unorganised, the toilets are always disgusting (and never cleaned at any point during the flight), and I've been on board for some rather dubious landings.
Hmm...
Maybe I was just lucky.
:o)
Interesting. My brother had a good experience with EgyptAir before as well, albeit not one that most people would actually consider good.
He was flying from Cairo to somewhere in South Africa and the flight attendant allowed him to smoke on the plane somewhere near the back.
Like I said, it isn't _good_ good. But it felt good for my brother!
Wow!
I wish they'd let me smoke on the plane. 12 hours is freaking hideous!!
I am gonna try to convince them to add sheesha lounges on the planes too!!!
:o)
WOW! Never expected that from EgyptAir! :) And I should know, both my dad and brother were at some point pilots for EgyptAir .... I never enjoyed th staff or the service thought (the flying-piece was excellent off course :D) ...but hey since I was mouching off my dad and gettign free tickets I kept my mouth zipped :D
Happy for you thought!
Feshfesh,
Yeah apparently I was lucky. I still meet very few people who can say something nice about EgyptAir...
Anyway, you are right:
Thou shalt not complain when thou are flying for free!
(I think that's from the Bible)
:o)
hey, hey, hey... I don't remember this commandment... as far as I remember they were 10, so if they have added this one... I don't mind, can we drop this one in it's place:
Thou shalt not commit adultery
?
They were 10.. but I think we dropped a lot of them along the way..
We had to make up quite a few new ones along the way because "The 10 Commandments" has a catchy ring to it!!
Sure, we can drop the Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not lie,
What the hell, while we're at it, let's get rid of Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, house, or cattle!
Go ahead, have a field day with it!!
Oh!... but, when you say it's now okay to covet your neighbor's cattle... you mean in a sexually way, right? ... This is very important to me.... hey man I'm not ashamed of who I am.
FeshFesh,
Never be ashamed of who you are...
You can covet the cattle in any way you want!
It might not be the best thing for your social life.. but I guess to you the cattle mean more anyway!
:o)
Ouuuuu low blow man... low blow :)
